Jeju-do
Jeju-do (Korean: 제주도) 🇰🇷
This photo story begins in Jeju-do (제주도), a volcanic island off the southern coast of South Korea, known for its dramatic coastlines, emerald waters, and quiet fields of wind-swept grass. But to me, Jeju is more than just a beautiful place—it’s my best friend Jinshil’s motherland.
This was a trip of four: my best friends since high school—Eika, Hanjie, Ruolin—and me. We planned this reunion trip when I returned to China after two years of studying in the States at the University of Michigan. At that time, I had just received my Ph.D. offer from USC. It felt like a rare in-between moment—closing one chapter and opening another.
Traveling to Jeju together was like pressing pause on everything else. These photos are a small attempt to capture the island’s beauty, but also the warmth, silliness, and stillness we shared along the way.
